Born January 17, 1944 in Longview, WA, she was the daughter of the late George Foster and Ella Genevieve Linden Eckerd.
She was a member of Berkeley Springs Church of Christ. She was a 1961 graduate of Berkeley Springs High School and earned a Bachelor’s degree from Shepherd University. Marilyn was a teacher at the old Berkeley Springs Grade School and did substitute teaching at Pleasant View, North Berkeley and Berkeley Springs High School. She retired as a real estate transfer clerk with the Morgan County Assessor’s Office. She collected Longaberger baskets and enjoyed walking her cats.
She is survived by her children, Brian Mathias Swaim and his wife Paula of Berkeley Springs, Karen Denise Hall and her partner Tim of New Bern, NC, one sister, Sue Ann Grace Guidara of Berkeley Springs, her brother, Rodney Eckerd of Hustontown, PA, two grandchildren, Joshua Tate Hall of New Bern, NC and Trevor James Mathias Swaim of Berkeley Springs and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Maxwell Hall on November 15, 2012.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2019 at Berkeley Springs Church of Christ, 290 S. Green Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with Van Sprague officiating. Private interment will be in Duckwall Church of Christ Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice
