Age 60. She earned her master’s degree and doctorate from the College of Education and Human Development at Georgia State University. She served as the Associate Director of the Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence in the college. During that time, she taught in-service teachers enrolled in the Urban Teacher Leadership (UTL) Program, developed and supported the Center’s grants and programs, and founded the Sources of Urban Educational Excellence Conference. After leaving GSU, she served as principal of Carter G. Woodson Elementary School and Woodson-Park Elementary School.
