Served in the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division in 1944-45 in combat during World War II in France and Germany. Lowell McMillen was his Browning Automatic Rifleman (B.A.R.) and closest buddy. They were together in combat from December 24, 1944 until they were both wounded by the same round on April 6, 1945 in Wurzburg, Germany.

OBITUARY:
FRANK SODEK, JR., 62, of 1008 Cherry St., passed away Thursday at his residence. A native of Texas, he had lived here for the past 35 years. He was a retired foreman with the International Mineral and Chemical Corp. and was a member of the Baptist Church, and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Sodek; one daughter, Rosemary Painter; three sons, Frank, William H. and Gary Allen Sodek; four sisters, Mrs. Lottie Norman, Mrs. Della Kopetsky, Mrs. Julie Matejka and Mrs. Marie Lys; two brothers, Ed Sodek and Raymond Sodek.

Funeral services at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Biltmore Baptist Church, 3525 W. Fifth St., the Rev. Lamar Giffin officiating. Interment will be Riverside Memorial Park, Pallbearers will be Gus Hunter, George Riley, Frank McClain, Allen Jones, Jimmy Venzant, Fred Kegley, Sr.; honorary, all men of the Biltmore Baptist Church, and close friends. Arrangements by Giddens-Griffith Edgewood Funeral Home, 729 S. Edgewood Ave.
