On May 21, 1956, he married his beloved Joyce Ann Stauffer in Orient, South Dakota. LeRoy farmed for a short time before moving to York and working for Champion Home Builders. He worked his way up in the company, lived and traveled around the country and became the Plant Manager in York. He retired after 38 years with Champion. LeRoy and Joyce were married for 59 years and had four children.
LeRoy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and York Country Club. He was an avid sports fan and especially rooted for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the KC Royals.
He is survived by his children: Carol (Tom Owens) Kirchner; Kim (Betsy) Baker; Kent Baker; Maria (Brian) Holst. Grandchildren: Kyle (Alina) Kirchner, Dr. Megan (Dr. Marc) Ofchinick, Emily (Ryan) Nyberg; Cassie (Joseph) Weiler, Adam, Elisabeth and Jacquelyn Baker; Sarah, Nathan and Logan Holst; step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Baker, sisters Marge Sorensen, Norma Douglas, Bonnie Franken Blair and his wife, Joyce.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 9, 2019 at St Joseph Catholic Church in York with the Reverend Monsignor James Reinert officiating. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Metz Chapel in York.
