Asa married Lucretia Mann, and she died 1872 in South Thomaston, Maine. He came to Seattle, by train, in 1885. From his obituary, "In speaking of his father's death, Mr. S.F. Coombs said: 'In religion my father has always been a Liberal and requested us to engage a Unitarian preacher to make remarks at his funeral. He died fully in that belief. Mrs. Miller, . . ., was a schoolmate of father's away back in 1811, and Mrs. Miller and he have had many a chat of olden times, and it was amusing to hear them discuss incidents of the War of 1812.'" Asa was a veteran of the War of 1812.
