He early embraced the cause of liberty, and was an ardent and sincere patriot; and during the expedition against Biguyduce, now Castine, he served as first sergeant in Capt. Philip M. Ulmer's company, Col. McCobb's regiment. Subsequently he was commissioned ensign and lieutenant. He died in South Thomaston, 22d Nov., 1817, aged 65.
