Mrs. Edith J. Carter of Fayetteville, a retired co-owner of a grocery store in East Point, died Wednesday of cancer at her home. She was 72.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at A. C. Hemperley and Sons Funeral Home with burial at Westview Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter, a native of Turner County, and her husband, Joe E. Carter, owned and operated Hillcrest Supermarket in East Point for 24 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville.
Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Robert E. Carter of Kennesaw and William P. Carter of Carrollton; a daughter, Janice King of Charlottesville, Virginia; two brothers, Preston Jones of Jonesboro and Hubert Jones of Tyrone; a sister, Aline Converse of East Point; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
