DEATH OF WILLIAM W.W. COVERT
New York, Oct. 23, 1896
Mr. W. W. Covert, of New York city, who has been spending the summer with his brother, S.B. Covert, at Sheldrake hoping that the climate might benefit him, as he was suffering from lung trouble, not improving in health, returned to New York with his sister, Mrs. A.B. Cornell, Saturday last. He had only been here three days when he passed away from heart failure caused by the fatiguing journey.
Mr. William W.W. Covert was the youngest son of the George P. Covert, who for ifity years was deacon of the First Baptist church, of Ithaca, whose Christian influence was known and felt by every one and whose name will live as long as the Baptist church has an existence. He was one of its most liberal donors and always had the most profound interest in everything connected with his church.
Mr. William W.W. Covert passed the greater part of his life in the employment of the New York city post office in the registry and money order departments, and by his genial and kindly heart he won the esteem of all.
His remains will rest in Governor Cornell's vault until spring when they will be interred in George P. Covert's family plot.
