Augustus was the son of Capt. Jabez/Elizabeth Paine Flint and was one of nine children. He was married twice. First to Catharine Jerusha Bockee, with whom he had three children: George Peters, Jacob Bockee, and Martha Bockee Flint. After Catharine died in 1843, he married Julia Lord, with whom he had Charles Augustus Flint.
