Joseph William Greenhalgh, 73, of Shelley, retired farmer, died Monday night at an Idaho Falls hospital of a lingering illness.
Mrs. Greenhalgh held the office of High Priest in the LDS Church, served as High Priest Group leader, and also as superintendent of the Sunday School for the Jameston Ward.
He and his wife served a two-year mission in Denver, Colorado for the LDS Church.
Born May 15, 1902 in Nephi, Utah, the son of Herbert Henry and Bertha Belliston Greenhalgh, he attended schools in Nephi. He was married to Dorathy Puzey, February
23, 1927 in Manti, Utah. They solemnized the marriage in the LDS Temple in Idaho Falls, March 25, 1958.
They moved to Lewisville in 1933 where they farmed until 1945. At that time they moved to Shelley where they have lived and farmed ever since.
Survivors include his wife of Shelley; two sons, Richard Greenhalgh of Shelley and Bishop Don Greenhalgh of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two brothers, Leland and Clarence Greenhalgh, both of Nephi, Utah; three sisters, Mrs. Harry (Mae) Welch of Washington, Mrs. Lamont (Lucille) Carter of Nephi, Utah, and Mrs. Douglas (Nina) Day of Salt Lake City, Utah; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. One child preceded him in death.
Services will take place Friday at the Jameston LDS Chapel with Bishop L.D. Crockett officiating. Interment will be in the Taylor Cemetery under the direction of the Nalder Funeral Home.
