Virginia A. Emert, 82, of Leavenworth, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at Country Care in Easton.

Mrs. Emert was born July 29, 1926, in Gove, Kan., to Frank and Ottilia Lang Schoenberger.

Virginia lived most of her life in Kansas City, Kan., until moving to Leavenworth 15 years ago. She worked in sales and production for Smitty’s Boats and Motors for 28 years, retiring in 1990.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, 14 siblings and one great-grandson.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Dungan of Lansing; her brothers, Gilbert Schoenberger of Lockport, La., Victor Schoenberger of Kansas City, Kan., Richard Schoenberger of Hillsdale, Kan., Ronald Schoenberger of Hays, Kan., and Vincent Schoenberger of Kansas City, Kan.; her sister, Irene York of Louisburg, Kan.; three grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas City, Kan. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2009, with a rosary recitation at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Maple Hill Funeral Home, 913-831-3345.
