She was born on November 29, 1934 in Long Prairie, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Ottilia (Lang) Schoenberger. She was united in marriage to Junior York on October 1, 1952 in Paola, KS.
Irene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Louisburg and served as Deaconess for many years. She was the church¡¦s official greeter and gave great hugs. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the nursing home and Vintage Park and also held Sunday school at Vintage Park before her health concerns. She loved going dancing at Middle Creek Opry, Fox Hall and West Line. She got great pleasure out of crocheting afghans and doilies for all her daughter in laws and grandchildren. She spent a lot of time going to garage sales and would always wave at everyone that went by when setting out on their front porch. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Judy Leann York; one granddaughter, Caitlyn York and nineteen siblings.
Survivors include her husband Junior York, of the home; three sons, Jim (Chrystal), Tom (Pat) and Jack (Janet) York; 13 grandchildren, Carolyn, Kindra, Ryan, Matthew, Andrew, Daniel, Jennifer, Amy, Tara, April, Krysta, Ashley and Dylan; 22 great grandchildren, Nikki, Micha, Johnny, Rodney, Erica, Kallon, Truman, Sadie, Lucie, Sawyer, Angel, Garrett, Remington, Zoe, Miles, Maylee, Aspen, Olive, Madison, Brooklyn, Savannah and Lucas; two great great grandchildren, Bryson and Emma; three brothers, Victor and Richard Schoenberger and Ronnie Lang.
In Lieu of Flowers the family suggests contributions to the Louisburg First Baptist Church.
