========================================

James E. Carney, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Carney, was born in Scranton July 20, 1889, and died at Scranton, Thursday, October 10, 1918. His death caused by Spanish influenza and pneumonia. Deceased was married April 3, 1914 to Ida E. Montgomery, of Carbondale. To this union two children were born, Eva May and Lloyde. Little Eva May passed away at the age of 5 months and 22 days - 2 years and 12 days before the death of the father. The wife and one child are left to mourn their loss, also the father and mother, two brothers and two sisters. James was a hard working, industrious and kind boy. His first thought was always for his family. He was good and kind to his parents—always a true mark of a noble man. As a husband and father he was faithful, true and loving. Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. W. T. Pyles. None but the family were admitted to the house, but a large number of friends were present to pay their respects to the dead. Burial in the Scranton cemetery. The sorrowing family has the sympathy of all in this sad bereavement.
