Fom the Burrton Graphic, dated October 16, 1896;

"Hargus McNeal Stone died at his home in Hutchinsn, Tuesday, October 13, 1896, aged 80 years, 8 months and 4 days.

Grandfather Stone was born near Dayton, Ohio, February 9, 1816. In his early life he moved near Terra Haute, Ind., and from there to Park Co., Ind., where he lived for several years and was marred to Abigil Van Ness, June 21, 1840. In 1855 he moved to Marion Co., Iowa and in 1873 to Reno Co., Kansas, where he lived at the time of his death.

He was the father of ten children, five of whom have preceded him to that better world. He was a very industrious man and highly respected and loved by all who knew him. He fell asleep happy in the love of Christ, and left a bright testimony behind, his greatest desires were that his children should follow him, where, with his faithful wife, they might make an unbroken family. May God grant his prayer.

The funeral services were held from the Burrton M. E. Church, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. C. H. Woodward officiating. W. T. D."

At least one of their children, Joseph S. Stone, is also buried here at Burrton Cemetery.
