Bruster Leon Hillis a longtime resident of Sweetwater passed away on November 27, 2018.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 1, 2018 at McCoy Chapel of Memories with Reverend Mike Ensminger officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Sweetwater Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. Saturday until service time.

Bruster was born March 6, 1925 in Lubbock, Texas to Wrethy Wells Hillis and C.L. Hillis. They had eleven children, all are deceased.

Bruster served in the Marine Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater and was in the invasion of Okinawa, Pallilu and Guadalcanal. After he returned to the United States he was stationed in Washington, D.C. where he met and married Margaret Noll. She was also in the Marine Corps. They were married 61 years until her death in 2007.

Bruster and Margaret had three children Bruster, Jr., Michael and Margo. Bruster was in Law Enforcement in Sweetwater 37 years until his retirement in 1985. Following Margaret's death, Bruster married Patsy Wade Dacus in 2008. He was a member of Fourth and Elm Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by wife, Margaret; parents; 10 siblings; a granddaughter, Jenifer Hillis; and daughter-in-law, Margaret Hillis.

Survivors are wife, Patsy; children, Bruster, Jr., and wife Gwen of Champion, Michael of Sweetwater, and Margo Hillis of San Dia, Texas; six step-children, Michael and Julie Dacus of Stephenville, Pat and Val Dacus of Denton, Kathy and Mike Roden of Joshua, Texas. Bruster has four grandchildren, Keaton Hillis and wife Angel of Merian, Florida, Tonia Carpenter of Royce City, Texas, Kim Jones and husband Russell of Sweetwater and Michael Hillis, Jr. and wife Janie of Greenwood, Texas; 11 great-granddaughters, Kelcee Hillis, Katie Hillis, Keeli Hillis, Kaeli Rollans, Chloe Carpenter, Laci Jones, Kensi Jones, Kandace Hillis, Krystal Hillis, Kyleigh Hillis and Kensli Hillis.

Pallbearers will be Tonia Carpenter, Michael Hillis, Jr., Janie Hillis, Kim Jones, Russell Jones, Keaton Hillis and Angel Hillis.
