Margaret Noll Hillis

Margaret Noll Hillis, 85, of Sweetwater passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, in the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007, at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Chapel of Memories. Services will be officiated by Michael Bassett and Joe Bagby.

Burial will be in the Sweetwater Cemetery, with military graveside rites performed by the Nolan County Honor Guard.
McCoy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive friends Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

Margaret was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Magnolia, Ill., to William and Augusta Noll. After graduating from LaSalle High School, she attended LaSalle Junior College. She then went to work at the Hudson Plant in Detroit, Mich., building plans during World War II. In 1944, she joined the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Arlington, Va. She served in the Navy Annex there until 1946. While in Arlington, she met Bruster "B.L." Hillis, who was also in the Marine Corps.

Margaret and "B.L." married on Dec. 25, 1946, in LaSalle, Ill., and made their home in Sweetwater following their discharge from the service. She was a loving wife and mother of three children. She enjoyed many years and made many friends working in their antique shop and attending area auctions. She was a long-time member of the Fourth and Elm Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, B.L. Hillis of Sweetwater; three children, Bruster and Gwen Hillis of Roscoe, Michael and Margaret Hillis of Sweetwater and Margo and Charles Turner of Victoria; four grandchildren, Tonia and Ken Carpenter of Lubbock; Michael and Janie Hillis of Midland, Kim and Russell Jones of Sweetwater and Keaton and Angel Hillis of Big Spring. She had 10 great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jennifer Hillis.
