John Kapke died at his home in Gladstone Oct. 6, 1934, at the age of 56 years, 11 months and 7 days. He was born Oct. 29, 1877, at LaSalle, Ill. He was the oldest son of Theodore Kapke of Gladstone.
Mr. Kapke had been ill about two years and following several operations had been in the constant care of his doctor.
He was married Nov. 4, 1908 to Miss Minnie Schoen. Five children were born to them, three sons and two daughters, Walter, Elmer, Harry, Leona and Donna Mae, all at home. Beside his children he leaves a wife, his aged father, three sisters, Mrs. Harry Fleagle, Miss Emma Kapke of Gladstone and Mrs. Frank Biederman of Kansas City, Mo.; four brothers, August of Fairbury, William, Henry and Charles of Gladstone. Hs (sic) mother and four children preceded him in death.
Mr. Kapke was baptized in early childhood and was confirmed April 10, 1892. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical church of Gladstone.
Funeral services were held at the Gladstone Evangelical church Tuesday afternoon in charge of Rev. H. Henning. Burial was in the church cemetery.
