Rosa Frieda Bates, 92, of Hamlin, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Oak Ridge Acres Nursing Home in Hiawatha. She was born June 29, 1906, at Lope City, Neb., to Claus and Anna Lopus Harring.
She married Marcus Bates, Sr. on June 25, 1925, at Hiawatha. Mrs. Bates was a homemaker. She was baptized into the Christian Church in Falls City, Neb., when she was 11 years old.
Surviving Mrs. Bates are a daughter, Elenor Koenig of Hiawatha, a son, Marcus Bates, Jr. of Wetmore, a sister-in-law, Mamie Brading of Hiawatha, 22 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Lena Fritz and Betty McElligott; and two brothers, Fred and Bill.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Framke-Casselman-Meek Chapel with the Reverend Wayne Schupbach officiating. Burial will be in the Hamlin Cemetery at Hamlin.
