Mrs. Stansbury (also seen spelled "Stansberry" and "Stanbury") was a visitor from England to the newly-settled area now known as Winnetka, IL. Little detail is known about her, but she was one of--if not the--first white person to die and be buried here. The exact location of her grave in the churchyard is lost to time. According to a talk given to to the Winnetka spring town meeting in 1889, Mrs. Stansbury's headstone was still present and legible. After that time, there is not other reference to it or other headstones that were/are present in the churchyard.
