Born in Blackfoot, Idaho, the son of Herbert Spencer and Florence Hinckley Hoopes, Jay Lewis Mason, 69, of Rexburg, completed his earthly life on Friday at the Madison Memorial Hospital from cancer. He married Jacqueline Richardson. They had five children and later divorced. He married Ilene Fisher, January 15, 1986, in Rexburg. The marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. He and Ilene served a temple mission in Santiago, Chile.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1960 and then served a LDS mission to Guatemala.
Ilene, his wife, Clinton, Charles, Michelle, Calvin, Gregory, his children; many grandchildren, a brother, Keith, and a sister Yerda survive.
