Darold O’Neil* Taylor, U.S. Coast Guard, Retired, age 87, died peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2016, at the Kindred Nursing Home near his home in Elizabeth City.

Chapel Services will be held at Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City, on Saturday, 2:00 pm, November 12, 2016, with Reverend Sandy Bain officiating. Interment to follow at Bethlehem Methodist Cemetery, Bogue Loop Road, Bogue, NC, with military honors.

He was born on September 12, 1929, at Bogue, NC. Darold served in the Coast Guard during the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

He was the son of Marvin Jackson and Cora Beatrice Russell Taylor of Bogue. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret Whitley Taylor of Elizabeth City, and his brother-in-law, Bert Clinton Stanley of Hubert.

Surviving are his four daughters, Donna Lee Taylor Norris of Anchorage, AL, Margie Ann Taylor Cawthon of Houston, TX, Vicki Whitley Brady of Elizabeth City, NC, and Darlene Whitley Gates of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren; his brother, Ashley Edward Taylor of Bogue, NC; his sister, Audrey Taylor Stanley of Hubert, NC.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Munden Funeral Home.

A special thanks to his caregivers, the Sentara* Albemarle Hospital, Kindred Nursing Home, and his daughter, Vicki Brady and nephew Morgan Hague.
