MAN DIES SUDDENLY AT VAIL STATION
D. E. [sic] Hamer, Who Had Been In Bad Health For Some Time, Collapses.

About 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon word reached the city that a man had died suddenly at Vail Station, and Coroner Richey immediately sent Undertaker J. I. Reilly out to bring in the body. The deceased man was D. E. [sic] Hamer, who had been living at the station since January of this year, and he had been ailing for some time. He arose and dressed yesterday morning as usual but suddenly fell over dead. No instructions in regard to the disposition of the remains have yet been received.

Hamer arrived at Vail Station from the home of his parents in Maraf[sic], Texas, in January, and remaining there for a couple of weeks went to work as a miner at Helvetia. He worked there for a couple of months, after which his health became so bad he was forced to give up and returned to Vail.

For some weeks past he had been doing fairly well and it was thought that he was slightly improved. He arose and dressed himself yesterday mroning the same as usural, and loafed around. About 1:30 o'clock he suddenly keeled over and before anyone culd get to his assistance he was dead. Word was sent to the city and the body brought here as above set forth. The coroner's jury found that the deceased came to his death from natural causes.

The parents of Hamer have been notified, but up to a late hour last night no reply had been received. Deceased was about 35 [sic] years of age and was unmarried.
