Jesus called Gayle Thomas Hooper,72, of Cope SC, to her heavenly home on September 10, 2018. She was the wife of Marden "Mardy" John Hooper.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church, Cope, SC, with the Reverend Dr. Walter Pym officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:15 am in the church sanctuary prior to the service.
Gayle was born in Orangeburg, SC, a daughter of the late Amon Thomas and Evelyn Myers Thomas. She retired as a Department Manager for Walmart after 23 years and also worked for KMart. Gayle was a member of Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church and loved her church family and the Bolentown community. She enjoyed gardening, the Clemson Tigers, and being with family and friends. She had so much love for her family and was always laughing and smiling. "We were very fortunate to have known and loved her".
She is survived by her husband, Mardy Hooper, of the home; a son, William Amon Rast (Susannah); a sister, Patsy Judy; grandchildren, Amelia Surak (Phillip), Caroline Rast, and Annah Rast; great-granddaughter, Noura Rast; a sister-in-law, Loy Reagen (Ed); and Boots, her favorite, loveable cat.
