He was a proud World War II Veteran and a retired teacher at the Lee County Vocational School.
He is survived by Hazel Ruth Edens, his wife of 71 years; two sons, Richard and Shirleen Edens, of Erwin, TN, and Mark and Sharon Edens, of Vinemont, AL; and one daughter, Martha and Mike Willis, of Pennington Gap, VA.
He is also survived by his pride and joy, his grandchildren: Beth and Brad Redmond, of Farragut, TN, Rich and Shelley Edens and Robert Edens, all of Erwin, Jarrod Edens, of Waynesville, NC, and Jessica Edens, of Vinemont. He is also survived by his other pride and joy, his great-grandchildren: Sydney, Gracie, Linnie, Kathleen “Katy”, Ava and Amelia Edens, Dylan Yankee, Bailey Redmond and Laura Fischer.
Survivors also include his brother, Dr. Wallace and Elana Edens; sister, Ruth Davidson; and his extended family of nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mac Sidney and Mollie Leemaster Edens; grandchildren, Jaclyn and Justin Edens; brothers, Robert and Kenneth Edens; sisters, Pauline Harris, Kathleen Harris, Evelyn Bacon and Lucille Graham.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 9, in Lee Memorial Gardens, Pennington Gap, VA.
