Alpine Man Dies at 80


Alpine, Utah--George Ernest Clark, 80, father of Alpine Mayor Vurn Clark, died Monday in the American Fork Hospital of natural causes.

He was born February 6, 12883 in Alpine, a son of Frederick Charles and Angella (should be Angelia) Vance Clark. He married Belle Wilkins August 8, 1906 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died September 26, 1954.

Mr. Clark attended schools in Alpine and worked as a farmer and sheep man.

A member of the LDS Church, he served a mission to the Southern States and was a high priest at the time of his death.

Surviving are 7 daughters and 4 sons: Mrs. Leon J. (Thurza) Strong; Geo. E. Clark; Mrs. George (Fern) White and Mrs. Marvin (Dorothy) Stevens, all of Salt Lake City. Lloyd Clark, Orem,; Vurn Clark, Glade Clark, Mrs. Marion (Norma) Healey and Mrs. Lloyd (Mildred) Bair, all of Alpine; Mrs. Kenneth (Lucille) Roberts, Preston, Idaho and Mrs. Harold (Virgie) Carrol, Crescent; 34 grand children, 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, and a sister, Grove and Charles Clark and Mrs. Edward W. (Inez) Burgess, all of Alpine.

Funeral services are pending and will be announced by Anderson & Sons Mortuary of American Fork, Utah.
