Benjamin Raymond Seal, 90 of Shenandoah, passed away August 24, 2018 in New Market.

Raymond was born December 4, 1927 in Page County, and was the son of the late Benjamin C. and Mabel Hilliards Seal. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the East Point United Methodist Church, where he was Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for many years. He was a member of the Avis O. Comer VFW Post 8613 in Shenandoah and a Honorary member of the Shenandoah Vol. Fire Co. He was an Engineer with Norfolk & Southern Railroad for over 30 years before retiring. He was an Electrician for many years and enjoyed traveling.

On January 13, 1956, he married the former Dorothy Stepp, who preceded him in death on July 15, 2013.

Mr. Seal is survived by a son, B. Robert Seal & wife Lori, of Shenandoah; son in law, Andy Cave of Shenandoah; brothers, William Seal and Charles Seal, both of Shenandoah; grandchildren, Caitlin Murphy & husband, Daniel, Halie Gentry & husband, Zackery, and Ryan Seal; great-grandchildren, Madyson Murphy and Collin Murphy; special niece, Lori Atkins & husband, Shane; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacqueline Cave; siblings, Owen Seal, John Seal, Barbara Seal, Bertha Hensley, Eva Davis and Margaret McCoy.

The Rev. Steve Bird will conduct the funeral service at 2 pm on Monday August 27, 2018 at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg. Military Rites by Avis O. Comer V.F.W. Post 8613. The casket will remain closed.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening 6 to 8pm at the Kyger Funeral Home in Elkton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Point United Methodist Church in care of Lori Atkins (Treasurer), 1131 Fleeburg Loop, Shenandoah Va. 22849.
