Alta Mae Bradshaw Danielson, daughter of J.L. and Lizzie Harned Bradshaw, was born March 3, 1902, in Battle Creek, Iowa. She was the sixth of eight children born to the Bradshaws. She graduated from Battle Creek High School and attended one year at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
She married Glenn W. Anderson on February 14, 1922, in Whiting, Iowa. To them, one son, Darrell, was born. Mr. Anderson was a depot agent and his work took them to various towns in northwest Iowa. Their longest service in one community was 11 years at Kiron, Iowa. The family moved to Schaller in April of 1939. Glenn Anderson passed away December 13, 1946. Alta then found work at a fraternity house as a house mother on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. The following year, she became a house mother for a sorority house on the campus of San Jose State College in San Jose, California. There she met and married a chemistry professor, Dr. Elton Stinson, 1949. While living in San Jose, she joined P.E.O. and was an active member of this organization at the time of her death.
When Dr. Stinson passed away, Alta moved to Rossmoor Leisure World in Walnut Creek, California. On November 30, 1972 Alta married Emil (Jimmie) Danielson, president of First Federal Savings & Loan in Storm Lake, Iowa, where they resided until 1974 when they returned to Rossmoor. At the time of her death, Alta and Emil Danielson resided in the Waterford Complex. Alta passed away on April 27, 1993, while in John Muir Hospital. Surviving Alta is her husband, Emil Danielson; a brother, Reid Bradshaw of Battle Creek, Iowa; her son, Darrell D. Anderson and wife, Marguerite, of Schaller, Iowa; three grandchildren: Rita Brown and her husband, John, of Kenyon, Minnesota, Candace Dixon and her husband Charles of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Tim Anderson and his wife Linda of Galva, Iowa; and seven great-grandchildren.
