Services for Ruth Apala Jackson, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at the Gospel Tabernacle Church of Jesus Christ with Brother Jimmy Morris officiating. Interment will be at Keller Cemetery, northeast of Wilson.
Born on Feb. 6, 1924, in Reck, Okla., to the late Mulbert Jonas and Susie Francina Emerson Apala, she died on Aug. 22, 2004, at her residence west of Wilson.
Raised in the Ringling area, she attended Mountain Home schools and married Carl Jackson on Sept. 22, 1970, in Ardmore. They made their home in Durant, where she was employed by the Department of Human Services in home health care until she retired in 1986. In 2001, they moved to the Wilson area.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Apala, on March 2, 1960; father, Milbert Jonas Apala, on Jan. 3, 1961; a son, C.P. "Sonny" Apala on Oct. 29, 1977; a grandson, Michael Roy Adams, on Aug. 22, 2002; granddaughter, Susan René Waterbury, on May 12, 1999; two brothers, June and Tom Apala; and two sisters, Wanda Meyers and Bonnie Griffith.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; two daughters, Leslie Adams and husband, Benny, Duncan, and Barbara Punneo and husband, Devon, Lone Grove; a son, Lester Hembree Jr. and wife, Linda, Ardmore; four sisters, Ruby Phillips, Ringling, Shirley Lemmons, Madill, Billie Griffith, Lone Grove, and Vivian Gordon, Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Gil and Pat Apala, both of Ringling; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Bearers are grandsons, Ron Punneo, J.D. Punneo, Ronald Hembree, Jim Adams, Carl Jackson and Jimmie Hembree.
