Robert "Bob" Enke March 4, 1933- February 9, 2011 Columbus, GA-
Ret. E-7 Robert "Bob" Enke, 77, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House. Cryptside services with full military honors will be held 3 p.m. Friday, February 11, 2011 at the Memorial Mausoleum at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Dr. Buddy Cooper officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the Mausoleum according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Mr. Enke was born March 4, 1933 in Altenburg, MO son of the late Walter and Lena Enke. He was retired from the U.S. Army and the U.S. Postal Service. SGT Enke retired after 20 years of service having served in Korea, Indochina, and Vietnam. During his military career, he received United Nations Medal, the Korean Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (5th award), National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, Army Commendation Medal with V Device (1st Oak Leaf Cluster), Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal, 4 Oversea Service Bars, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Reeves "Sally" Enke, whom he married in 1963, his three brothers, Harold Enke, Wilbert Enke and Walter Enke, and his sister, Pearline Novak. Survivors include his two sons, Robert E. "Robbie" Enke, II of Columbus, GA and James R. "Jim" Martin (Debbie) of Columbus, GA, brother, Calvin Enke, sisters, Delphine Keston (Ed) and Dorothy Mueller all of Altenburg, MO, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
