Harold J. Enke, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 15, 1917, in St. Louis, son of Walter J. and Linda P. Wachter Enke. He and Rosa A. Perr were married Sept. 27, 1941, at New Wells. She preceded him in death March 14, 1998.

Harold graduated from the former Alten-burg Public High School. From 1942 to 1982, he worked at the former L.H. Landgraf Lumber Co. in Cape Girar-deau, during which time he also worked as a carpenter. He then worked four years at Wunderlich Real Estate in Cape Girardeau.

He had been a member of Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau since 1998. He was active in its men's club and other church functions. He was a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girar-deau and its men's club, where he was awarded his 50-year pin, and was an usher and trustee.

Loving survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, ; a daughter, three brothers, and two sisters.

Also surviving are three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girar-deau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Hackney officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Hanover Lutheran Building Fund, The Lutheran Home or Saxony Lutheran High School.
