From his father's memorial, "From the second marriage of Lars and Brita [Haldor's parents] there were five children but only one son, Haldor. Haldor went by the last name of Lewis as per information from Ella Flisram in 1975. After coming to the United States they found there were too many people named Lewis, so the last name became Fliseram because that was the name of the farm they were from in Norway."
