Lars was born in August 1810 near Vossestrand, Hordaland, Norway. He died in July of 1904 in Bonesteel, Gregory, SD, USA. He was married three times, twice in Norway and once after he came to America.

From his first marriage to (1) Ingebjorg Knutsdtr.Giljarhus in 1834-1836, there was one son, Knut Larson Flisram who married and had three children. Knut L died August 25, 1869. Ingebjorg was born in 1800 in Vossestrand, Hordaland, Norway and died in 1836 in Norway.

Lars married his second wife (2) Brita Haldorsdtr.N.Skjervheim in 1838. Brita was born in 1803 in Vossestrand, Hordaland, Norway. Brita died in 1854 in the USA. Brita's parents were Haldor Olson nedre Skjerheim (1777-1854) and Gjori Olsdatter Tveite (1778-1852) and they were married in 1800. They had 8 children: Synneva (1800-1865), Brita (1803-1854), Ola (1805), Ola (1808-1809), Ola (1809-1881), Brytteva (1813-), Aksel (1816-), and Brytteva (1819-). From the second marriage of Lars and Brita there were five children but only one son, Haldor. Haldor went by the last name of Lewis as per information from Ella Flisram in 1975. After coming to the United States they found there were too many people named Lewis, so the last name became Fliseram because that was the name of the farm they were from in Norway.

Lars married again (3) Berit or Beret Abt. 1858. Berit was born July 1822 in Norway and died June 26, 1902 in Perry, Dane, Wisconsin, USA. From the third marriage he had four sons. Lars immigrated and arrived in this country on April 20, 1854, Stoughton, Perry Twp, Dane, Wisconsin and SD, USA. Lars is buried at the Rosebud Cemetery in Bonesteel, Gregory, SD. Lars had 10 children altogether

The AEttebok for Vossestrand records that he immigrated to American in 1854 with his children from his second marriage. He first lived in Stoughton, Wisconsin where he was married for a third time and then bought a farm in Perry, Dane, Wisconsin. When he was about 85 years old, he apparently went to South Dakota where he took up a homestead in Bonesteel. He died at about 98 years of age and had 4 more children in his last marriage.

Norway didn't have surnames as we understand, but had patronyms. Lars patronym would have been Knutson (son of Knut) and the farm name (which was more of an address) was Fliseram. His children would have had the patronym of the father Lars + Larson. Quite often Lars was changed to Lewis or Louis in North America.

Most of the information on the early generations of Fliserams was provided by Richard Flisrand.
