Helen Louise Powderly age 92, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland, IL. Helen was born on September 27, 1925 in Ulman, MO, a daughter of the late Aster Myers and Cleo (Abbett) Malmberg.

Helen retired from the Army Depot in Granite City, IL, where she worked as a secretary for Automated Logistics Management Systems Agency. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Helen loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Eads Douglas; second husband, David Allen Powderly; one son, Charles Douglas and by one brother, Robert Myers.

She is survived by her loving children, Jeanne (Tom) Butkovich of Lake Ozark, MO and Bart (Patricia) Douglas of Pocahontas, IL; dear brother, Virgil Malmberg of Chesterfield, MO; proud grandmother to six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL.

In celebration of her life, funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Helen will be laid to rest at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.
