Laurene I. Thielke, 85, Lakewood, died unexpectedly on Sept. 4, 2008, at Community Memorial Hospital, Oconto Falls Wis. Laurene was born Gillett, on Feb 8, 1923, to the late Walter and Olanda (Piepenburg) Kahler. On May 13, 1944, she married Glen Thielke in Shawano. She was a member of St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood. She and her late husband, Glen owned and operated the Fairmont Dairy Distributiorship for 19 years and then from 1968 to 1973 Glen's Hotel in Lakewood.

She is survived by four children, Tom (Faye) Thielke, Crandon; Christie (Frank) Braiske, Carpentersville, Ill.; Rita (Larry) Blazewicz, Lakewood; Glen (Donna) Thielke, Rubicon, Wis.; four grandchildren, Tami (Brian) Smith, Alexandria, Va.; Tim Thielke, Tempe, Ariz.; Karla (Matt) Sampselle, Marinette, Wis.; and Sara Blazewicz, Madison, Wis.; Two great-grandchildren, Abby and Emma Sampselle, Marinette; one sister, Marvel (Bob) Elbe, Mountain, Wis.; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband Glen in 2007; her brother, Harold Kahler; and her feline companion, "Smokey".

The visitation is on Saturday, Sept. 6, at St Mary's of the Lake Catholic Church, Lakewood from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Fr. David Schmidt will lead the service. Interment is in Lakewood Forest Cemetery.
Memorials will be shared with the Lakewood-Townsend Rescue Squad.
