Mrs. Rachel Virginia Simmons, wife of Ed Simmons, passed out of this world into the home beyond, Tuesday, September 3, 1929, at the Pocahontas Memorial hospital. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Pope of Greenbank, assisted by Rev. Shires of Durbin, at the M. E. Church Thursday afternoon and her body was laid to rest in the Durbin cemetery. A very large crowd attended the funeral. Mrs. Simmons had been a sufferer of cancer for more than a year. She had taken treatment in Elkins hospital Her age was 54 years. Mrs. Simmons was a daughter of A. J. and Mary Simmons of Virginia. She is survived by her husband and their five children, father, three sisters and two brothers. A devoted mother, friend and neighbor is gone from our midst and will be greatly missed.
