Command Sergeant Major (CSM) Grady A. Coats, (U.S. Army Retired), 82, died on July 20, 2018. He is survived by his wife of sixty years, son and daughter-in-law, brother, three sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving for thirty years, including during the Vietnam war Era. He was a military police officer and the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) of Military Police Officers at Fort McClellan. After retiring from the Army, he worked as the Jailer for ten years with the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, and later as a Security Guard for the Calhoun County Commissioner's Office. Funeral: 2:00 p.m. July 25, 2018 at Anniston Memorial Funeral Home; burial immediately following the service in Anniston Memorial Gardens, with full military honors.
