Viola Hull Rector Hastings, 75, of Rutherford College, died unexpectedly Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Valdese General Hospital.

Mrs. Hastings was born June 16, 1931, in Cleveland County to Hosea and Bessie Cook Hull.

She was a faithful member of Abee's Chapel Baptist Church.

She retired after several years of service from Valdese Mfg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Earnest Rector; her second husband, the Rev. Buren Hastings; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Interment: Abee's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a faithful member of Abee's Chapel Baptist Church and retired after several years of service from Valdese Mfg. Co.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Rector and his wife, Judy, of Valdese; her daughter, Linda Rector Mourglea and her husband, Teddy, of Connelly Springs; a sister, Goldie Lail of Connelly Springs; four grandchildren, Brandon Lee Mourglea and Stacy Lynn Mourglea, both of Connelly Springs, Lisa Smith of Valdese and Carrie Clark of Granite Falls; four great-grandchildren, E.J. Yancey, Lance Yancey and Jimmy Smith, all of Valdese and Terin Clark of Granite Falls.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Earnest Rector; her second husband, the Rev. Buren Hastings; and 10 brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Abee's Chapel Baptist Church with the Revs. Buddy Sizemore and Patrick Mourglea officiating.

Interment will follow in the Abee's Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pall bearers will be Brandon Mourglea, Stacy Mourglea, E.J. Yancey, Lance Yancey, Jimmy Smith and Ray Lail. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the services.
