Denson Burnum Broadfoot, 90, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, July 31, 2015 in a local health care facility.

He was born May 29, 1925 in Florence, Al., to the late Hollis Lee and Bertha Mae Broadfoot.

Mr. Broadfoot was a 1950 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and was an avid golfer and Tennessee Vols Fan.

He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was a retired electrical engineer from TVA after 37 years of service.

He had previously served as a deacon, elder and Sunday School teacher at Brainerd Presbyterian Church before joining Covenant Presbyterian Church where he had been a member for 21 years. He was a member of the Perseverers Sunday School Class.

His sister, Mary Broadfoot Phillips and brother William Lee Broadfoot preceded him in death.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 ½ years, Gloria Strome Broadfoot; daughters, Bonnie Broadfoot (Ernest F.) Gross of Chattanooga; and Barbara Broadfoot (J. R., III) Richardson of Norcross, Georgia; sister, Martha Broadfoot Jones of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Bryan (Claire) Gross and Andrew Gross of Chattanooga; Leanne (Kevin) Brackin of Ooltewah; John Denson Richardson of Athens, Georgia; and Lt. William M. Richardson of Fayetteville, North Carolina; great grandsons, James Brackin and Denson Gross; beloved niece, Janet Jones Skates of Kingsport, Tennessee and several nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 3, from 6–8 p.m. at the East Brainerd Chapel and Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at 12 p.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church with Dr. Render Caines officiating. Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Erlanger (6thfloor), Siskin Hospital, and NHC Healthcare for the care that was given to Mr. Broadfoot. Special thank you to our friends, Dr. Dean and Martha Elwood, Rev. Eric and Boo Mullinax, John and Charlotte Berg, and Mark Wilson for your love during this time.
