Janet M. Steeno, 96, Green Bay, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 28, 2018, after a long battle with lymphoma. She was born February 22, 1922, at the home farm in Cecil, WI, to the late Robert and Emma (Meyer) Bahr during a raging snow storm which was an omen to her life that was filled with many challenges and adventures. She was the 9th and youngest child. In 1940 she married Harold G. Steeno who passed in 1981. Janet would have liked to be remembered as a devout Catholic whose sole purpose in life was to serve God and to be the very best mother. She loved all of her children and demonstrated that with care and through clear expectations that each worked to achieve his or her full potential. Janet always saw the best in everyone. She truly believed that with the right help and guidance, anyone could change regardless of circumstances and live a positive life.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Carol (Robert) Schumacher, Nancy (John) Miller, Joan (fiancé Tom Gajeski) Steeno; sons, Terrence (Janice) Steeno, John (Jan) Steeno, and Jeffrey (Tracy) Steeno. Janet was proud of her 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Harold, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Marie Steeno in 1960; sisters, Lorrene (Phillip) Marhol, Clara (Helmuth) Gehm, Hulda (August) Simon, Lucille (Alvin) Wilkie; brothers, Herbert (Edna) Bahr, Adolph, and two twin brothers who died at infancy; father-in-law, William (Lucy and Ruby) Steeno Sr.; brothers-in-law, William (Arletta) Steeno Jr., Lloyd (Bernadine) Steeno and sisters-in-law, Delores (Carl) Edges and Patty Steeno.

Visitation will be held at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., on Sunday, June 3, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a parish wake service at 5:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, June 4, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2040 Hillside Rd., from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Mark VanderSteeg officiating. Burial will be at Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Aurora Bay Care and Rebekah Haven for the care and compassion given to Janet.
