Born May 10, 1907, the daughter of David and Rosa Beran Bowen, she had lived in this community all of her life.
She was an active member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church until its closing several years ago when she united with the Bethany United Church of Christ in Hiawatha. She was a member of the Women's Guild of the church. She was also a member of the Zenith Chapter 184 OES of Hiawatha, transferring from the White Cloud Chapter where she had been active for many years.
She was married to David Davies in the Mt. Zion community on July 27, 1935. He survives at the home. She is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. William C. (Annamary) Mueller of rural Hiawatha; one brother, John G. Bowen of St. Joseph; one grand-daughter, Miss Ann Ellen Mueller of Hiawatha; an uncle, Frank Beran of Falls City; three nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by an infant son.
Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, December 9, at the Bethany United Church of Christ, Hiawatha, with Rev. Paul Mitchell and Rev. Harold Wolf officiating. Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Mt. Zion community northeast of Hiawatha with graveside services conducted as a courtesy of Zenith Chapter 184, OES.
