    John G. Bowen, 80, Hiawatha, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 1989, at a Hiawatha nursing home.
    Mr. Bowen was a retired farmer. He had farmed in the Mount Zion community near Hiawatha and had worked at Armour Meat Co., in St. Joseph, Mo.
    He was born May 16, 1909, in White Cloud, the son of David and Rosa Anna Beran Bowen. He was graduated in 1927 from Hiawatha High School.
    Survivors include three daughters, Betty Johansen, Kansas City, Kan., and Rosemary Baker and Eileen Ogg, both of White Cloud; a brother, J. C. Bowen, Hiawatha; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
    Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Framke-Casselman-Meek Funeral Home in Hiawatha.
    Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Mount Zion community northeast of Hiawatha.
    Mr. Bowen will lie in state after 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home where relatives and friends will meet from 7:30 until 8:30 p.m.

    Mr. Bowen was a 1927 graduate of Hiawatha High School. He married.
    He is survived by three daughters, Betty Johansen of Kansas City, Kan., Rosemary Baker of White Cloud, Kan., and Eileen Ogg of White Cloud, Kan.; a son, J. C. Bowen of Hiawatha, Kan.; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
    Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 1989 at Framke-Casselman-Meek Funeral Home Chapel in Hiawatha, Kan., with the Reverend Sam Blythe officiating.
    Vocalist was Zola Shipman, with Betty Casselman at the organ. Casket Bearers were Dennis Dougherty, Norman Johansen, Danny Bowen, Rodney Johansen, Earl Johansen, and Cliff Baker. Honorary Casket Bearers were David Dougherty and Mark Dougherty.
    Interment was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Mount Zion Community.
