She was born October 13, 1928 in High Point, MO to William Porter and Blanche (Bilyeu) Porter. She was married June 14, 1947 in California, MO to James Hohman who survives of the home. Elsie worked as a Realtor and was a member of the First Baptist Church in California, MO where she was baptized. She enjoyed playing the guitar, singing and watching Royals baseball. Other survivors include; two sons, James Richard Hohman of Russellville, MO and Jeff Hohman of Kansas City, MO; three daughters, Janice Phelps of Harrisburg, MO, Rita Middleton of Sedalia, MO, and Peggy Davis of Omaha, NE; two brothers, Melvin Porter of High Point, MO and Cecil Porter of Pilot Grove, MO; three sisters, Ruby Kusgen of Blackwater, MO, Opal Ellison of Hallsville, MO and June Klein of Tipton, MO; 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 12:00 PM at First Baptist Church in California, MO. Officiating will be Rev. Greg Morrow. Burial will be in California City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 30, 2009 from 10:00 AM – 12:00PM at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California, MO.
