Don Ellis Ames, age 85, passed away at his home on May 25, 2018 in Ioka.

Don was born May 4, 1933 in Ioka to James Orvile and Luella Jane Cook Ames. He married Rachel Ella Stocks on March 27, 1953 in Duchesne.

Don was a long haul truck driver for many years traveling all over the nation. Later he moved back to the Uintah Basin and worked as a contractor for 40 years and owned D & R Trucking. He and Rachel enjoyed arrowhead hunting, photography, rock hunting, and most of all just going out to find new areas and enjoying the beauty that is in the Basin. He was very family oriented and they were most important to him. He delighted in spending time with each of them.

He is survived by his wife, Rachel Ames, his children, Donald (Ann) Ames, Lynne (Jeff) Hall, James (Liz) Ames, Terrie (Larren) Holdren, Diane Lind, Sam (Madeline) Ames, 27 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, his siblings, Kay Nyberg, Eva Ivie, sisters-in-law, Phyllis Ames, Charlotte Ames, and brother-in-law, Dale Workman.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Reita & Norman Workman, Wayne & Stella Ames, Vern Ames, Ella Workman, Ed & Stella Ames, George Ames, Bert Ames, son-in-law, Steve Lind, grandchildren, Joshua Lind, Samantha Ames, brothers in law, Bob Nyberg and Carl Ivie.
