Harriet Maxine Kennedy, age 94, of rural Yarmouth, died Sunday evening, May 27, 2018, at the Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab in Mediapolis.
The daughter of Harry and Ines Johnson Dotson, she was born on September 18, 1923 in Newport. Harriet married Donald C. Kennedy on September 5, 1942 in Newport. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2005.
Harriet attended grade school in the rural school of Newport and graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1940. During high school she will be remembered for her many appearances with the accordion trio as one of the accordion players.
Harriet and Don lived on a farm near Pleasant Grove all of their married lives. During that time she was employed by the ASCS office in Burlington for 28 years.
She was one of the founders and past members of the former Yarmouth UCC Church. After the closing of that church, she attended the First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis.
She loved cooking holiday and Sunday dinners for her family. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don; two sons, Mike and Dennis; and a sister, Dorothy Baird.
