A celebration of Ann Louise Shields Hahn, 84 will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2018, 2:00p.m. at Pollard United Methodist Church. Ann was born November 04, 1933, to Tom "Pap" and Catherine Harned Shields of Bloomfield, Kentucky and died peacefully May 10, 2018, at Mother Francis Hospital.
Ann attended Bloomfield High School in Bloomfield, Kentucky and continued her education at Kentucky Baptist Hospital in Louisville, KY where she became a Registered Nurse.
Ann met Virgil Lee Hahn her freshman year in high school in 1947 and they married September 23, 1955. They relocated their small band minus one to Tyler, Texas when Virgil took a new job. Ann was a devoted housewife and homemaker. She taught her children good core values and manners and ensured that her sons knew how to cook, clean and sew so they would not rely on a woman. She taught her only daughter the same, but added in how to pump her own gas.
Ann was a stay at home mom until Allen was a junior in High school when she took a job for JC Penny Company, Tyler, TX. She enjoyed working and made lasting friendships while there.
Virgil and Ann enjoyed going fishing on Lake Tyler and many other lakes across the country. They spent many a day chasing their quarry and would share their bounty of crappie once a year at the annual Epworth Class fish fry. On that day the class would grow 200% in size as word spread of the event in which Virgil selflessly fried several pounds of fish, fries and hushpuppies to all in attendance. Ann, Virgil and their cat (Miss Kitty - Named after the saloon owner in Gunsmoke) toured contiguous 48 of the United States and Alaska, and Canada in their 5th wheel. And spent time in Hawaii as well. They loved to travel and see the country.
Ann was active in Pollard United Methodist Church and participated in the Eastern Star.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a son, Norman Shields Hahn. She is survived by her four children and six grandchildren.
