Alice Ruth was the daughter of John Snell Lancaster, and Rosezella Sanders Lancaster. She was one of nine children. She married Ernest Gainer Sparrow, Sr. July 27, 1935. They had two sons, Ernest Gainer Sparrow, Jr., and John Cleveland Sparrow. She was a beautician, a member of the Corinth Baptist Church in Hawkinsville, and a Sunday School teacher.

Tuesday, August 10, 2004 in the Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Lanier Beasley and Rev. Gary Andrews officiating. Burial will be held iin the Orange Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Sparrow was a native of Pulaski County and a member of the Corinth Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School and Training Union teacher. She was a member of the WMU and was a self employed cosmetologist and a homemaker. Survivors include two sons, Ernest G. Sparrow, Jr, (Nellie) and John C. Sparrow (Patricia), both of Hawkinsville.; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The family can be contacted at the residence of Ernest and Nellie Sparrow, Rt. 2, Hawkinsville, GA.
