The Death of Dr. J. B. McFarland
We are called upon to record the melancholy fact of the death of Joel B. McFarland and one of our oldest and most estimable citizens. He died at his residence on Saturday last at 12 o'clock. Dr. McFarland has lived among us for many years and has always occupied a prominent positions to our Federal, State and local affairs. He was a genial gentleman and his loss will be severely felt by a large portion of our community.
His remains were followed to their last resting place by the members of the Tippecanoe Flying Artillery, Lafayette Guards, Odd Fellows, Masons and a large concourse of citizens.

Dr. Joel B. McFARLAND was a nephew of Mrs. Dolly MILLIKIN. He took up his residence in Hamilton in 1835. He was a popular practicing physician in Hamilton in this County for many years, and represented the County in the Legislature in 1841-2. He afterwards removed to Lafayette, Indiana. There, too, he practiced his profession, and represented the county of Tippecanoe in the Legislature of Indiana.
