Ancil “Arky” Hillis Hicks, 84, passed away November 10, 2016 in Delaware. He was born August 28, 1932 in Childers, Oklahoma to Walter Harrison and Eva Jane (Adamson) Hicks. Arky attended Childers School and worked several jobs including the oil fields. He was also a machinist for Funk Manufacturing and John Deere in Coffeyville, Kansas. Arky enjoyed fishing, hunting, and doing turkey shoots. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Coffeyville, where he enjoyed time spent there having fun and playing pool. Arky loved and enjoyed caring for his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Arky is survived by two children, Laverne Boyles and husband Brad of Delaware, Melody Irons of Delaware; five siblings, Noni Collier, Wendell Hicks, Lorene Corle, Paul Hicks, Vernon Hicks, Sr; six grandchildren, Christopher Irons, Bryan Irons, Steven Irons, Kathi Kerr, Thomas Kerr and wife Crystal, Robert Kerr and eight great-grandchildren.

Mr. Hicks is preceded in death by ten siblings, Walter Hicks, Delbert Hicks, Howard Hicks, Jewell Longhry, Evelyn Hughes, Barbara Bray, Allene Hughes, Elsie Hicks, Eva Jane Green, Jim Ed Hicks.

Memorial services are 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the American Legion in Coffeyville, Kansas. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
