Graveside services for James Edward Hicks are 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 1, 2013 at the Martin Cemetery with Rev. Lawrence Green officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benjamin Funeral Service. Visitation hours are Thursday, May 30, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Friday, May 31, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.

James Edward Hicks, 77, of Nowata, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at the Jane Phillips Nowata Health Center. He was born August 30, 1935 in Childers to Eva Jane (Adamson) and Walter Harrison Hicks. He graduated from Childers High School. James enjoyed visiting family and friends and especially enjoyed playing Yahtzee with his sisters.

James served many years as the pastor of Happy Hill Holiness Church in Childers, Oklahoma as well as serving as a guest pastor in Albany, Kentucky before retiring full time.



James is preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, Jewel Loughry, Walter Hicks, Evelyn Hughes, Nelsene Hicks, Delbert Hicks, Howard Hicks, Barbara Bray, and an infant brother Lloyd Hicks.
