Charles “Butch” Pierceall, age 69, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

He was born on September 13, 1948 in Springfield, the son of Marshall & Alta “Topsy” Bushong Pierceall.

He married Linda Maberry on January 9, 1970.

Butch is survived by his wife, Linda; two sisters, Linda (husband Delbert) Weidhuner of Athens and Sharon (husband Charles “Butch”) Mester of Athens; sister-in-law, Martha Pierceall; several nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and several great-great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Herbert; three sisters, Rose “Sis” Christensen, Betty Pierceall, and Mary Lynn; one nephew; and two nieces.

Butch worked for Allis Chalmers as a machinist. He loved to train horses.

He raised and showed Quarter horses and those were the happiest days of his life.

Throughout his life, Butch enjoyed being with the folks in the morning coffee group.

He enjoyed driving his Corvette, watching horse races on TVG, was an avid FOX News viewer, and loved collecting baseball cards.

Butch served for the U.S. Navy in Vietnam, where he became a disabled veteran.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 28, 2018 from 4:00 until 7:00 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Funeral services for Butch will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 29, 2018 also at the funeral home with Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery with military honors.

Memorials can be given to charity of choice.
